History & Mandate

This committee was established through the Board/COTA Collective Agreement, 1992.

The article is:

“F6.1 The employer and the Union shall establish one or more Joint Educational Change Committee(s) with six (6) members from the Employer and six (6) members from the Union, to review new educational policies, practices and programs, including new curriculum and to make recommendations to the Employer. The teacher members shall be appointed by the Union.”

Committee Procedures

1. The Committee will consider matters related to Education Change as defined by F6.1 presented by COTA members jointly or the management members jointly.

2. After discussion, recommendations may be formulated for presentation to the Superintendent.

2.1  Where deemed necessary appropriate people or groups knowledgeable in a specific area will be consulted to give input to the committee.

2.2  Where possible one set of recommendations will be supported by the Committee as a whole. If a recommendation cannot be reached a report containing the options may be submitted.

2.3  Recommendations will be presented with supporting information.
